An New Introduction

It’s kind of strange looking at this site now. 9 years ago I launched BetaRat.net as a means to promote my musical ventures (many of which continue to exist in one way or another), but life certainly has a way of changing our direction.

Maybe a brief re-cap is in store for those who would care to listen. 

Right around the time of the first Beta Rat release, the indie-rock band I was a member of (the Paper Jets) slowly slipped into hiatus. Our album was released, and we played one hell of a send-off show. What came to be shortly after that ending was the beginning of a new project with two of the other members of the band, and little were we aware we would be forming a band that would work on a record for the next 6 years. 

During that timespan, other life events came into play. COVID was very much one of those things, along with the birth of my son shortly after the world entered into lockdown. Those were fun & stressful times for sure. Navigating the waters of life as a new parent in a post-COVID world has been a journey all it’s own. Nothing is easy, yet I know it all could be worse than my family has it. 

Then at the end of 2024, I entered into a new phase of my life. It was an awakening - a very personal pivot of mind and body that is hard to describe in a single post on a very obscure website. But I guess that’s where the rest of the entries into this blog will do the heavier lifting. 

Let this first entry serve as a brief introduction to all that I am. Aside from recounting events and situations that have helped shape who I am today, I hope to offer insights into my own human experience in an effort to reach out to those who might be experiencing similar issues with self identity in all of it’s complexities.
