How often do you write music? “My friends have taken to joking along with me that I’m always 3 albums ahead of where I currently am, some even asking when the ‘Best Of’ will be released. It’s true: I’m never done writing - even when I’m mixing or completing one idea I’m writing and tweaking a new one. I don’t like ignoring anything that might come up during any part of the process, and I really think it’s important to capture the musical lightning in as many bottles as I can.

How did the album HOSTAGE come about?
“The ‘HOSTAGE’ EP’s creation was a complete accident. I never intended to make an EP while I was mixing what I had hoped & intended to be my first release (the yet to be completed ‘Hungry Gods’). But melodies and patterns just started leaking out onto the palette, and I felt the urge to paint with them. While it’s no Sistine Chapel, it’s still an important part to the Beta Rat catalogue, and is my first step forward into this new direct
